Intermediate Championship Group 1 Round 1 St Marys: 1-6(9) Piarsaigh na Dromoda: 0-9(9)

St Marys played Dromid Pearses in Páirc Chill Imeallach in the first round of the Intermediate Championship on Sunday April 7th.

The first point of the game came from Bryan Sheehan 4.30mins into the game in the form of a 45. Niall O’Shea scored St Marys’ second point a minute later. 8 minutes into the game St Marys were awarded a penalty which was saved and put wide by Dromid goalie, Donal Jer. Bryan Sheehan pointed the 45 making it 2-1 in St Marys’ favour. In the next ten minutes, Dromid had four wides from play and St Marys missed one free and one 45. Chris Farley was awarded a yellow card 21mins into the game and a minute later, Patrick Cournane was shown a black card and replaced by Mark Quigley. Bryan Sheehan scored St Marys’ third point 25mins in from a free. Chris Farley scores Dromid’s first point of the game after 26 minutes of football. Adam Quirke received a yellow card and Chris Farley pointed another free making it 4 points to 2 in favour of St Marys at half time.

Niall O’Shea scored two points at the start of the second half, one free and one from play. Denis Daly scored from play after 6mins. Daniel Daly was shown a yellow card and Chris Farley scored a point from play. Dominic O’Sullivan was shown a yellow card and John O’Shea was replaced by Denis Shine. Niall O’Shea of St Marys was replaced by Muiris Fitzgerald and Dilan O’Donoghue of Dromid was replaced by Michael Curran. Chris Farley pointed a free putting Dromid ahead for the first time in the game. St Marys were awarded a second penalty and Bryan Sheehan made sure of this one making it 1-5 to 6 points to St Marys. Denis Daly and Shane O’Connor both received a yellow card. Dominic O’Sullivan’s point from play was replied to by an excellent point from Jack Daly. Chris Farley pointed a free for Dromid and Niall O’Shea put a free wide. Jack Daly was shown a yellow card and Chris Farley pointed the free leaving it 1-6 to 9 points at full time.
